How to Create Amazon Seller Account

Want to start selling on Amazon? Great! You’ve created your own shop, and now you want to sell it on a larger platform like e-bay and Walmart. Now you have two options. Do you want to use one account for both platforms or create one account with each platform and then sell them separately or in the same marketplace? In this article I will show you how to create an Amazon seller account and find out when your first product is listed in Amazon.

What does that actually mean for us here at The Business of Selling Stuff, and why should we care? Why would anyone bother to buy anything that doesn’t add value to their life? Of course if you are selling a watch or any other consumer product, but you really want people to purchase something a bit more complicated than clothes or cars, then an Amazon merchant account could be the right option for you. What is “Merchant account” in real terms? When you check out reviews online on amazon.com there is no official definition for what it means, but they are using some words and phrases to describe it that describes it best. So let’s take it one step further and go a little deeper into the definition. The closest translation I can come up with from wikipedia is, merchant accounts, also referred to as merchant billing businesses, are companies who manage or provide payment systems and services for customers on Amazon.

Amazon has been around for years (as far back as 2001), and currently sells over 250 million products each year all over the world of which they make money through the sale of these products. Some examples are: clothing, food, electronics, toys, music, etc. Those are only a fraction of the millions of items offered by Amazon every year and over 70% of those items are purchased via the internet and not physically on Amazon. This makes Amazon’s business very powerful and reliable as well. Therefore, when creating an account on Amazon the first thing you will need to do is get familiar with the interface of the site and learn how to start a listing on the main page or where most listings for similar products are found. If you would like to learn about listing your store on Amazon, there is an Amazon Seller Guide available here on amazon.com. At this point, after completing the tutorial you will have an Amazon Merchant account. This is exactly what you wanted because you created your own store on FireTV. After all, you’re selling goods and not running ads, so your goal is to sell well, and there’s nothing better if that process is easy! That’s just where the fun starts. It’s time to list your new merchandise on Walmart and eBay and start adding items to your cart with both sites. First step, create an Amazon Web API account on FireTV. We will call ours www.amazon.com/gp/services/alexa/registration/signals.json. Create an AWS S3 bucket to house your inventory as well. Set up your access here: AWS console.aws.amazon.com/alexa/signals.json. You will then create an HTTP request that requests the aws s3 bucket, verifies its existence and gets the name of the object within that item that contains your stock (e.g., your shoes). Once done, upload the items you wish to sell. For example you may want to upload your shoes or dresses to the Amazon cloud front and for any reason you want to save them somewhere rather than saving them in a local file system or even Dropbox. Then save the items to the aws s3 bucket and once done you can create the listing on your storefront! The next step is to add the items to your cart on the main ebay website. Click New order and choose to add an Amazon Pay button that allows either customer (if the customer has a wallet) to pay for his order, or a guest to buy it (if none of this occurs). Finally, click checkout and you are ready to ship your orders! Depending on how many items on your cart, you will receive your payment information as well. Congratulations you are officially listed on Amazon! Enjoy your first days and keep learning as much about these giant companies as you can, and as soon as you are ready to try listing on eBay or even EBay2, be sure to drop me a line! Good luck with everything going on and if you get stuck on any part of a listing for whatever reason, leave it to our super friendly support team via live chat or by email.
